I love playing the electric guitar… too bad I suck at it (at least that what I think anyway). But ya know what? I guess I don’t suck as bad as I think because I still get asked every year to play for VBS. I get the gig by default because I’m one of the worship pastors but I look forward to it every year. The funny thing though is that every year I get so pumped on playing my electric that I vow that “this year will be different…this year I’m gonna play my electric more.” Well this year I’m gonna get myself some accountability from all of you. I’m totally just an acoustic guy and am comfortable being that but I think we all need to be stretched in one way or another to grow ourselves. So this year I want to stretch and play the electric guitar more. That means I’m gonna go out and take some lessons and invest in this whole thing a little more. I encourage you guys out there to take a look at your lives and find an area where God can stretch you. When you find it don’t just say “there is it” but instead do something about it. Take a step towards it. What have you got to lose? So, where can you be stretched?

Looks like you’re rock’n!
Victor,
My voice is mediocre, although I may be starting some lessons soon. Good for you for expanding and growing.

Love the hat profile pic.
I have a Strat hanging on my wall…had it for about 4 years, and STILL haven’t learned how to play guitar. I really, really need to.
I think I own that shirt…
I am stretched when I lead from the guitar, since keys are my home.
i’ve pretty much been an acoustic guy since about 1995, but one of our first Sundays a couple of months ago here in St. Louis I was told I was leading worship … and I was going to be doing it from the bass.
I had picked up a bass a couple of times before. I had three days to practice - now, I get on it as much as possible.
Oh, and I’m trying to pick up on the plastic ivory - keys for those of you in Rio Linda
Hi Victor! I linked to you through Marko’s sight. I like your blog. You should post to it more often.
I’m stretched every time I lead worship at my church. It is hard for me because it is a spanish church and I can only speak spanish OK and not great. It is even harder when you are in front of a lot of people. I think that to a point, it is bad to be stretched so much because it takes time away from other areas of you life, and in my case, it is kind of a stigma that I am always worrying about when I should be doing other things, like practicing and preparing. But that is just me and my complex life!
Here’s me stretching
