PLEASE PRAY: Emily admitted back to hospital

Please be in prayer for us in the next few days. Last night (Friday night) Emily was admitted into the hospital because she was running a high fever and they said that she would be kept for a few days to run tests and all. Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this whole process. Specifically, could you be in prayer for Kim, she’s been through alot in the past few days and is doing really well but this is very wearing emotionally for her. Thanks everyone. UPDATE: Sat, 9:30am. Last night was rough for all of us. Kim and I spent most of the night in the emergency room while they figured out what to do with Emily. In the end they decided to transfer her to another hospital with a better Pediatric unit. They decided to give her some antibiotics before they did so but the fever that she had was almost gone before they did that. Even though it was almost gone they said that they would still need to keep her over night to see how she was doing. So that is where Kim is now. This morning though they told Kim that they wouldn’t let Emily leave for 3-10 days though depending on what they find or what they don’t find. They are just being cautious so it’s good but it’s tough to accept that when it seems that things are already going so well. Anyway, the ways you can be praying for us are: For Emily: that all this stuff with her health would turn out ok and that all the poking and prodding that they are doing isn’t causing her too much discomfort. For Kim and I, please be praying for wisdom as we talk to doctors and have to make decisions and be praying for us today as neither of us slept last night and now we’re dealing with all this stuff. Doctors: Wisdom in treating Emily. Matthew and Rachel: all the crazy changes and stuff thats going on is totally messing with them and their schedule and it’s showing in their personalities and patience. thanks for praying everyone. We appreciate you. Please let us know if you’re praying… it encourages us to see that.

UPDATE: Sat, 10PM. I just said goodnight to Kimberly for the night and got the latest news so I thought I’d share with all of you who are praying for and with us. The good news is that the fever is gone and hasn’t come back. The bad news is that they don’t really care because they wanna know what caused it. So as I said before they are going to be keeping Emily for 3-10 days depending on when they find the source of the fever. They are doing a nasal swab to see if it was some sort of a virus and if they find one then she is free to go… that takes 3 days. The 10 day option is for if they don’t find anything on the swab they just want to keep her monitored and see if anything else goes down. So in the meanwhile they are pumping Emily up with a bunch of antibiotics and other good stuff. So we’ll see what happens. As I said before please be praying for Kim cause she’s spending her days and nights at the hospital and from what I hear it’s not that easy to do especially when you have 2 kids at home and even more so when you just had a baby less than a week ago. So thanks to all of you. I can’t say it enough…. we appreciate all of you and all of your prayers.

  • Hi Victor…this is Lindsay Guard. I’m so sorry to hear about Emily. We’ll be praying for her and your whole family. I know we haven’t even met but we really have nothing going on out here yet so if there is any way we can help let us know. I don’t have a job yet so I am around all day, every day. We’ll check in for updates.

First off, a HUGE congratulations to my dear, life-long friend and her husband. Secondly, I will definitely be praying for your precious little one and the whole family. If empathy helps in the least, I can understand a little bit of what you guys are going through because Nathan had to spend a couple extra nights in hospital after his birth. Leaving the hospital without my newborn in my arms was by far one of the most difficult things I ever had to do, followed by a rambunctious toddler waiting at home. Big hugs Kimmy!

We are so praying for little baby Emily. Celina was also in the hospital when she was 3 weeks old, such a scary thing. How can we help? Where are the other two?
    Let us know.

  • thinking of you and Kim. praying HARD.

  • Hey Victor & Kim,
I am so sorry that you are going through this. It really makes Brent’s words from his message yesterday on “Why does God allow suffering?” really ring in my ears.
Here is my prayer for your family:
Dear Heavenly Father i thank You for this wonderful family, the Estrada’s and their newest little miracle, Emily. I commit all 5 of them into Your hands and ask that Your loving and healing arms would be wrapped so tightly around them that they feel Your amazing strength. I ask especially for Kim that You would comfort her, physically and emotionally. I cannot imagine the agony of this kind of separation. So close, yet so far away. Father, we thank You for the diligence with which answers are being pursued. Please give the medical staff wisdom to resolve this as quickly as possible. Allow them also to have hearts of compassion for Kim, Victor, Matthew, Rachel and most of all Emily. We commit them into Your hands Father and pray this in the mighty name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen
