Healer and Mike Guglielmucci

So I’ve been trying for that past day and a half to sit down and write my feelings about the whole Mike Guglielmucci Healer song thing and it just isn’t happening. Every time I think of the song and how I felt about before and now knowing what I know, it breaks my heart. In case you don’t know what I’m talking about wanna be in the loop… Check out the video below then after that you can read the story for yourself.

Now Read this story at News.com.au

It breaks my heart to know how much damage has been done by a guy and a song. Damage not only to people outside the church who already look at us Christians under a microscope but to those people like me inside the church who feel betrayed by something like this.

How can a guy say all those things knowing that they’re going to be shared with the world and know they’re not true. How? I can just imagine the guilt that was going though his mind as he sat there saying all those things. Wow…. it breaks my heart.

But ya know what? If there’s one thing I know though is that God can still do something through this. God can take this and make it something beautiful. Even though the writer of the song may be in question you can still take the song and truth that it proclaims…

Nothing is impossible for you
Nothing is impossible
Nothing is impossible for you
You hold my world in your hands

Lord, work through this…

This song continues to give me goosebumps. Simple. It’s good. God is good. He IS our Healer!

  • Awesome! God forgive me for my lack of worship!!! I’m left speechless…

  • this makes me sad.. for me, it’s alarming to think that even those closest to him were deceived… it makes me wonder how many others are out there that are just like him…….

  • This is so disheartening. It is, of course, sad when any Christian does not live up to what God has called us to do. But even more sad when someone is so high profile like this. I cannot imagine living a lie like this for 2 years. I also wonder what his poor wife thinks. Could you imagine thinking your husband was dying, only to realize he was lying?!

  • This of course makes me sad but also a little mad. I want to know the whole story- not just that he’s getting help. How many times did they say that in this article??
I’d LOVE to say: “Tell us WHY you lied. Why on earth would the end jstify the means when the goal is to bring others closer to Christ, lean on Him- and you’re going to LIE to get to that end?? How do you figure THAT one?? How is THAT relying on God?”
    Sorry… I get going sometimes. :o P

Call it what it is and not gloss over it in some sort of a justifiable way. It was a lie and should be called so.

  • Sputnik… Did you even read what I said? I beleive the definition of a lie is saying some thing that isnt true and I thought I was pretty clear that that’s what it was. Anyway, there’s no glossing over that here brutha (or sista) but even with that said God cantake even the most vile and evil thing and make it something that ultimately glorifies Him. I don’t know how or even if he’ll do that withthis but I know he can.

Now the media say he is a porn addict – been one since he was 12. We all are exposed to porn and most of us enjoy it occasionally. Problem starts when we are made to feel guilty about it. Wasn’t it Mike’s fundamentalist parents who made him feel guilty when he was just growing up and his sexuality was budding? I think the whole conservative pseudoChristian culture of “charismatic” or “evangelical” megachurches is to blame. They try to create a feeling of guilt in us so that they have power over us and can manipulate us. Anyone still feeling like giving collection money? Yes, Mike is a guilty fraudster, but so is most of Christianity. I don’t think they would even allow Jesus to join them!

  • ok, yes he did lie. ever wonder if he can lie and get up there then what about his church? how did they not know? how did his family not know? i have to question that if he could decieve then who else in there is decieving and doing all they can for stardumi just am not sure about him nor the song nor the church anymore for they have not said a thing. and ive been listening to hillsong for years!!!! now i question the leadership, what have they said about it? are they sorry for the phony display of a song?? or not. so far no answer!

it is powerful song – but also a fat LIE and genuineley offensive to people who are looking for big answers and big breakthroughs. Don’t get me wrong this guy has an illness that needs treatment, its called Munchausen’s Syndrome, but to share the negative consquences with 17000 people live on two occassions makes my mind boggle… i hope some good comes out of it but given it was a pretty selfish act its challenging to see it right now…

I loved this song and the inspiration I got from the song. Now that this has come out, it doesnt change the song, it just changes my perception of the inspiration. As for some of the other comments that were made, I wanna make a few comments. For one, Mike Gugglielmucci is not a worship pastor at Hillsong, he merely performed this song for their new album. They are not to blame for poor shepherding. Also, Paul, its not the “charismatic” church that is trying to “manipulate” people into feeling guilty about sin. Mike felt guilty because the holy spirit inside him convicted him that his actions were wrong. It is good to dwell on the things of the Lord and hate sin. The church simply encourages the hate of sin, not hate of self.

  • Paul

I don’t see any Sholy Spirit here, Joshua, I’s sure the truth was just found out by someone and his church made him do this (we will never find out, the church would cover up the truth – it’s already doing so by threatening people who would like to put a video of “Healer” on YouTube). Also, Mike would not be looking for another excuse (porn! pathetic…). By the way, have those donations been returned yet, or was it just an empty promise?

I don’t know what in the world could possibly have possessed him to make up such a huge lie. The song is amazing and I truly believe that the song was a prayer to God. Sin is a cancer to our spirit. He had a cancer of the soul. We all do. Wether we hide it or not. In the end he was way wrong to do this. Yet Jesus said, “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” It was not good what he did, but God loves him and Jesus died for him. Maybe now he can truly experience that freedom and healing from the cancer of pornography addiction. “Confess you sins one to another and be healed”

Power. Money. Influence. Fame. Those are the things that drive people, including religious celebrities. That’s why he did it…
