PSALTY, COLBY, CHARITY CHURCH MOUSE!!! Those are the names I grew up with as a kid. I, probably like a nice big chunk of you, grew up in the golden era of the Christian musical days when Maranatha Music ruled. One of their creations was a big blue singing songbook who had a dog, a family, and not to mention a worship workshop. So classic, this guy and the music he brought of his bright red tapes helped define me and who I am today.
Anyway, So the other day I was talking to some people in the young adult group here at church and for some reason the topic of Psalty the singing songbook came up in our conversation (If you don’t still don’t know who Psalty is then you need to go over here to Wikipedia and read this article on him). We started talking about how much we loved Psalty and all those old tapes and songs and all that good stuff. So I tell them that I wish I had some of those tapes so I can introduce my kids to them and all the heavenly goodness that is Psalty the Singing SongBook. Then they look at me and tell me that they still have a bunch of the tapes at home and they still listen to them. So to make a long story short…..

…. it’s time for me to make some CD’s and get myself and my kids rockin’ a giant blue singing songbook. HEHE!!! I’m giddy right now…. TESTIFY!!!!

hmmm.. the computer is not letting me change your name to mine.. Anyway, I love those girls!! I’m so excited to listen to those cd’s.. I think even if we didn’t have kids I would still want them
Good memories!
Awesome. I love Psalty.
do you want a copy of the Psalty video my dad did awhile back?
Psalty was heading out when my kids were little and quickly replaced with Veggie Tales sing-a-long and Mary Rice Hopkins. However, the cassette tape my kids listened to over and over again was Steve Green - Hide ‘Em In Your Heart. There were times I was so tired of listening that I wanted to throw it out the car window. Today, my teenagers (and I) will still begin singing his version of a Bible verse EVERY time one is referenced. It definitely was a good way to memorize scripture.
Oh…my…GOD…I thought I’d never see that again! HA. Wow, our church used to do “Music Day Camp” with Psalty and gang instead of “Vacation Bible School!” This is too much. I thought I had actually deleted those memories but they’re all flooding back to me now! NO NO NOOOOOOO!
Hahaha
WorshipCitys last blog post..Sunday Worship Sept. 14th - Guest Worship
So…all of these memories are FLOODING back to me! I LOVES Psalty and the Donut Man…anybody remember him? Oh man how far we’ve come. I love Veggie Tales…but I’m a music junkie. I prefer all the music and dancing from these oldies.
Oh man. Its incredible that I still remember all the words!
my kids grew up on Psalty AND Steve Green’s ‘Hide ‘em in your heart’…I would love to find cds of those if at all possible for my grandkids. that would be so AWESOME!!!

It is truly amazing that Psalty seem to be everyone’s favorite…Oh…Sunday school memories are flooding back…
Our kids grew up on Psalty & Charity the church mouse. They are now 33, 30 & 28 respectively & I had all but forgotten about Psalty. Well tonite on the radio, an instrumental version of “Make Me a Servant” came on & my thoughts immediately retuned to that Psalty Album from many years ago. Could not remember the name so I had to search it out. Glad to see many other folks remember & enjoyed those collections.
